1.Tire Classifications and Constructions
Tires are classified by their construction. Classifications include tube type, tubeless, radial, and bias.

There are two basic tire constructions, radial and bias.
Radial Tire
The cords, which form the carcass, run at a 90° angle to the center line of the tread (radially from the bead). A belt restricts tread movement.
Bias Tire
The cords of the carcass run diagonally to the center line of the tread. The bias tire was commonly used in the past.
Performance Comparison of Radial and Bias Tires
Compared to bias tires, radial tires have the following advantages:
1. Superior handling and stability.
2. Good resistance to wear.
3. Cooler running.
4. Less rolling resistance for better fuel economy.
5. Less slipping for better traction.
6. Better ride on high speed highways.

These characteristics enable radial tires to perform well on
paved roads and for long distance use.
