Apology for wheel hub failures

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation was issued an official warning by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on May 6. On the same day, seven former employees of the company were arrested on suspicion of having violated the Road Transport Vehicle Law and of professional negligence resulting in death in connection with the wheel detachment accident involving a Mitsubishi Fuso tractor trailer that took place in January 2002 in Yokohama.

The company offer its sincere apologies for the enormous inconvenience and concern it has caused customers, the authorities and the public at large stemming from the recent series of events surrounding the recall of Mitsubishi Fuso heavy-duty trucks.

The company also takes this opportunity to once again pray that the soul of the victim of the wheel detachment accident may rest in peace, and to again apologize most sincerely to her bereaved family to whom it offers its deepest sympathy and condolences.

The official investigation into the accident is still under way and the company continues to give the investigating authorities its frank and fullest cooperation. Mitsubishi Fuso is committed, after a period of deep soul-searching and reflection, to reviewing its internal organization and to implementing all reforms necessary to prevent such an accident occurring again.
