Tokyo/Istanbul Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asias leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, has introduced its new generation Canter light-duty truck in Turkey. The new Canter offers more interior space, more comfort and more safety, while maintaining the vehicles reputation for durability, reliability and efficiency. The product was unveiled at press and customer events presented by TEMSA Automotive, MFTBCs distributor and vehicle assembler in Turkey. Bert van Dijk, MFTBC Board member and responsible for International Sales & Service, said, Mitsubishi Fuso is very pleased to bring the new generation Canter to our valued Turkey customers. The new Canter offers greater interior room, improved functionality, and enhanced safety while delivering efficiency and value. We expect this exceptional product to help enhance Mitsubishi Fusos leadership position in Turkey, which is a key export market for our company. In calendar year 2005, Turkey was Mitsubishi Fusos third largest export country. Last year, the company sold 7,602 vehicles (wholesale) to Turkey, a 32% increase from the previous year. This also marked the third straight year of sales growth in Turkey (2004 = 5,761units; 2003 = 2,616 units). In the first seven months of 2006, Mitsubishi Fuso has increased retail sales 38% to 4,296 units. New Canter Leading features on the new Canter include: a spacious cab; the RISE (Realized Impact Safety Evolution) cab and chassis structure for maximum safety; in-dash gearshift for convenience and comfort; and powerful and efficient engines. The products model range spans from 3.5 tons to 8.0 tons GVW (gross vehicle weight). The new Canter is available immediately in Turkey. The truck will be assembled locally at a TEMSA facility in Adana, Turkey.
