Tokyo, Japan Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has announced a new initiative with fellow DaimlerChrysler brand Sterling Trucks in the Mexico market. Under the latest collaboration, Sterling Trucks is introducing in Mexico a Class 4, low cab-over-engine (COE) truck based on Mitsubishi Fusos successful Canter product. The Sterling 360 truck is being unveiled to Mexico customers at the Expo Transporte show in Guadalajara, Nov. 15-17. MFTBC is very pleased to further expand its markets and to cooperate with Sterling to establish a presence in the light-duty COE segment of the Mexico market, said Bert van Dijk, MFTBC Board Member and responsible for international sales & service. This launch creates new opportunities for MFTBC and Sterling in the NAFTA markets in addition to our current cooperations in the U.S. and Canada. We will use a proven Mitsubishi Fuso product using the established Sterling brand and distribution channels in Mexico. This shows clearly how we continue to leverage on the strengths of our partners within DaimlerChryslers Truck Group. The Mexico launch of the Sterling 360 follows the March launch of a similar product for the U.S. and Canada markets, and represents the latest cooperation between MFTBC and Sterling under the DaimlerChrysler Truck Groups Global Excellence program. Global Excellence is an optimization program created to leverage DaimlerChryslers global commercial vehicle span and diverse business units. The new Sterling 360 will be sold through Sterlings Mexico dealer network, and is expected to find numerous applications in wholesale and retail services, pickup and delivery, and construction. The trucks design allows for excellent fuel economy as well as the easy cab entry and exit, outstanding maneuverability and visibility, and a body builder-friendly design. Mitsubishi Fuso is already present in the NAFTA region through its subsidiary, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA). Based in Logan Township, N.J., MFTA markets a complete line of Mitsubishi Fuso diesel-powered, light- and medium-duty cab over trucks in the U.S. and Canada. Through the first three quarters of 2006, MFTBC sold 6,460 vehicles (wholesale) in the U.S. and Canada, a 41 percent increase year over year. About MFTBC Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation is one of Asias leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. DaimlerChrysler AG owns 85% of MFTBC shares. The remaining 15% of shares continue to be held by various Mitsubishi group companies. Mitsubishi Fuso is an integral part of DaimlerChryslers Truck Group. |
