Mitsubishi Fuso Exhibits Hybrid Vehicles
At the Kawasaki International ECO-Tech Fair 2010

February 3, 2010

Kawasaki, Japan – Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, today announced that it will exhibit its Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty truck and Aero Star Eco Hybrid large route bus at the Kawasaki International ECO-Tech Fair 2010. The event takes place February 4-5 at Todoroki Arena, Kawasaki City, Japan.  With their quiet running and low energy consumption, the innovative truck and bus are friendly to people and the environment.

MFTBC has long time expertise in developing hybrid vehicles and today offers fuel efficient, low emissions products like the Canter Eco Hybrid and the Aero Star Eco Hybrid. Development of hybrid products are coordinated by the Global Hybrid Center (GHC) located within MFTBC’s R&D facilities in Kawasaki. Opened in August 2008, the GHC is the worldwide hub for Daimler Trucks hybrid development, with a role to synchronize Daimler Trucks hybrid development activities on a global basis. MFTBC has marketed hybrid trucks in its home market Japan since July 2006 and has also announced its export of its Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty to Ireland and Australia in 2009.

Key Features of the Vehicles for Exhibition

Canter Eco Hybrid Light-Duty Truck:

•  Equipped with a parallel hybrid system, the hybrid light-duty truck significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions while providing easy operation on the job.
•  The power to drive is generated from the vehicle’s electric motor, the diesel engine or both.
•  High fuel efficiency and reduction of CO2 are achieved by selecting the optimum driving mode according to driving conditions.
•  The electric motor functions as a generator to convert braking energy into electric energy and stores it in the lithium-ion battery for the next moving off or acceleration.

Aero Star Eco Hybrid Bus:

•  Equipped with a series-type hybrid system, the hybrid large non-step route bus features extremely low energy usage and quite performance.
•  The series-type hybrid system runs only on an electric motor and generates power using a diesel engine.
•  Significantly exceeds Japan 2015 fuel efficiency standard for heavy-duty vehicles.
Certified as a Low Emission Vehicle, the clean and small power-generating diesel engine reduces NOx and PM by 10% more than the Japan new Long-Term Emission Regulations (2005).
Launched in 2007, the bus is currently in production for the Japan market.
