Mitsubishi Fuso Introduces New “Fighter”
|
| Significant Enhancements to Fighter Versions 11 Tons and Above |
| Optimized for Excellent Fuel Economy and Low Emissions |
| BlueTec® Technology for Efficiency and Environmental Protection |
| Further Enhancements to Engine and Interior |
| Available from June 9 at Japan Dealer Locations |
Kawasaki - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, today unveiled new versions of its Fighter medium-duty truck for Japan. The company has significantly enhanced Fighter models with gross vehicle weight (GVW) 11 tons and above by installing the improved 6M60 engine and including the advanced BlueTec® emissions reduction system. BlueTec®, comprising a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and urea selective catalytic reduction (SCR), significantly reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), contributing to improvements in both fuel efficiency and CO2 reduction. With the newly installed technology, all Fighter models 11 tons and above meet Japan’s 2009 New Long-Term Emission Regulations (JP09). In addition, the 11-ton version already meets the particular JP09 regulations enforced in 2010. Furthermore, the 11-ton and 14.5-ton versions achieve Japan’s 2015 fuel efficiency standard for heavy-duty vehicles. The new Fighter models, which include various other enhancements, will be available at all Mitsubishi Fuso Japan dealers and regional sales centers from June 9. 1. BlueTec® System for Environmental Performance and Fuel Economy | |
The new Fighter models incorporate the BlueTec® system to meet Japan’s New Long Term Emission Regulations and enhance fuel efficiency and overall vehicle economy. To preserve the global environment, MFTBC has adopted BlueTec® to overcome the traditional fuel economy penalty associated with NOx and PM reduction, to achieve both fuel efficiency and emissions reduction. The system collects PM to be burnt for elimination through ‘regeneration DPF’ combining oxidation catalyst and silicone carbide (SiC) ceramic filter. The BlueTec® urea SCR system - comprised of SCR catalytic muffler and a urea water dozing nozzle - decomposes the remaining NOx into harmless nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O) through the chemical reaction of the ammonia which is generated from the urea water. With this BlueTec® system, the engine unit focuses on achieving high combustion efficiency, realizing both CO2 reduction due to fuel economy improvement and at the same time PM and NOx reductions. BlueTec® technology was recently incorporated into Mitsubishi Fuso’s Super Great heavy-duty truck and Aero Star route bus. It was first introduced by Daimler Trucks in 2005 in Mercedes-Benz heavy-duty trucks. Daimler Trucks units have now sold more than 250,000 BlueTec®-equipped units, with 400 billion kilometers of travel accumulated. |
