Details on IAA Exhibit

Canter E-CELL Concept Model:

The battery-electric driven Canter E-CELL truck works towards achieving emissions-free mobility in densely populated areas and environmentally-sensitive areas. Mitsubishi Fuso is presenting the practice-oriented design study of the Canter E-CELL based on a Canter 3S13 with a permissible gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons. Key components include lithium-ion batteries (40 kWh) and an electric motor (output of 70kW, maximum torque of 300 Nm). The vehicle can travel about 120 km after about six hours charging via a 380-volt power network outlet.

The Canter E-CELL is developed as a further step in the “Shaping Future Transportation” initiative of Daimler Trucks, of which MFTBC is an integral part. This initiative is aimed at redoubling ongoing efforts to achieve a major reduction in the fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of commercial vehicles.

Canter Eco Hybrid

The Canter Eco Hybrid, a hybrid diesel-electric light-duty truck, first went on sale in Japan in July 2006, with export to selected international markets beginning in 2009. The Canter Eco Hybrid to be shown at the IAA is one of the ten Canter Eco Hybrid vehicles delivered to Electricity Supply Board (ESB) of Ireland, and stands as an example of the first series production hybrid trucks delivered in Europe by any manufacturer. ESB, based in Dublin, is utilizing the vehicles for customer service and infrastructure maintenance operations. The Canter Eco Hybrid is also operating on the streets of Japan, Australia and Hong Kong, as well as in a fleet trial in the British capital London.

Canter Euro 5 (EEV Regulation Compliant)

MFTBC will display six units of the Canter for the European market. The vehicle meets the strict Euro 5 emissions standards while delivering high efficiency to customers. It also qualifies as an Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle (EEV). As an EEV, it exceeds the Euro 5 emissions standard – in the case of particulate emissions, for example, by as much as 30%. Currently the most stringent level of exhaust control beyond Euro 5, EEV has been achieved as a voluntary measure. The Canter Euro 5 with EEV incorporates the new 4P10 diesel engine with top-of-the-range for the 3-liter unit delivering an output of 129 kW. The BlueTec® aftertreament system for significant emissions reductions and fuel economy is also included. BlueTec® is a registered trademark of Daimler AG.
