FUSO Canter with Crewcab Enjoys Increasing Popularity in Europe

June 21 2013
•  Only 7.5-ton truck with crewcab supplied by Daimler AG
•  Popular with works depots thanks to space for a team of seven
•  Ideal for clearing-up operations after flooding
•  FUSO Canter trucks celebrating its 50th anniversary
Kawasaki, Japan - The FUSO Canter with crewcab is enjoying increasing popularity in Europe. It remains Daimler AG's only truck with crewcab in the 7.5-ton GVW segment. Its spacious 7-seater crewcab is an important argument in its favor for works depots needing to drive a group to where help is required.
A special feature of the Canter is its rear axle with a carrying capacity of 6.0 ton. This is a benchmark in this weight class. The Canter 7C is already a record-holder in terms of load-carrying capacity and payload. Depending on the wheelbase, the load-carrying capacity of its chassis can be as much as 5,030 kg – a top figure in this class. A further strength of the Canter is its good body-mounting ability, a benefit of its ladder-type frame.
The technical highlights of the Canter include the Canter Eco Hybrid, now also series-produced in Tramagal, Portugal, and the DUONIC® dual-clutch transmission, which allows the vehicle to be driven without the need to shift gear. Its classic strengths are already legendary: along with the high payload, these include maneuverability and economic efficiency.
50 years of the Canter light-duty truck
The first generation of the FUSO Canter light-duty truck came onto the market in March 1963. 50 years and eight generations later, we are proud to celebrate the truck as a bestseller, with global sales of 3,700,000 units since that original market launch in its home market of Japan. The light-duty FUSO Canter truck is the flagship model of the Daimler, and much in demand from customers around the world. For the European market, the Canter has been produced since 1980 in Tramagal, Portugal, and continues to enjoy increasing popularity throughout Europe.
The FUSO Canter 7-seater crewcab is frequently used by works depots to get a work team to where it's needed – as currently in many areas in Europe have experienced flooding.
