Kawasaki: Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, cooperating with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA), will exhibit three vehicles at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015.
FUSO’s theme of “Running ahead” expresses its intention to support customers by offering the best services and holding regular consultations to understand their needs.
Marc Llistosella, CEO and President of MFTBC and Head of Daimler Trucks Asia said: ”Our exhibition shows both – our leadership position in fuel efficiency with our current products as well as our ability to think out of the box to create answers for the questions of tomorrow. And that’s exactly what we need to reach our ambitious target of selling 300,000 vehicles in 2020 as Daimler Trucks Asia. Best ideas, best products and best customer service is what will help us achieve it.”
The three vehicles at the exhibition demonstrate our out-of-the box thinking; The Super Great V “SPIDER” multi-task truck represents FUSO’s willingness to remain accessible 25/7 in order to support customers’ 25/7 operations.
The “Eco-Drive package” equipped Super Great V 2016 model delivers a 5% improvement over the previous model in real-world fuel economy, leading to TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) reduction.
The Canter power supply vehicle provides an incomparable solution – an all-in-one hybrid solution.
Tameo Miwa, Head of Mitsubishi Fuso Sales Japan and MFTBC Vice President, said “We are constantly improving our support, not only for the business managers of our customers – by providing best Total cost of ownership – but also for the drivers – by providing the safest and most comfortable trucks. With this our clear aim is to become No. 1 in the Japanese market by 2020.”
1. Vehicles to be exhibited
(1) Heavy-duty Super Great V “SPIDER” (concept model)
A concept model with its four knuckle boom cranes that projects the image of a multi-functional, powerful “work vehicle”. FUSO wants to be part of building the foundation of our future.
A multi-functional and multi-arm model that has four knuckle boom cranes and outriggers.
Various attachments for a wide range of applications can be mounted on each crane.
(2) Heavy-duty truck Super Great V 2016 model
The newly-launched, flagship model for MFTBC, the FU (6×2) model with Eco-Drive package will also be exhibited. This truck is newly equipped with an “Automatic Drivetrain Cut-off System” and “Optimized Auto-cruise Control”. The Super Great V 2016 model achieves reliable real-world fuel economy, proving its claim to be the king of the road.
(1) Models equipped with the Eco-Drive package are designed for customers who drive mainly on highways. The package has been added to 12-speed INOMAT-II models, improving real-world fuel economy.
The Eco-Drive package models include the following new functions.
・ 12-speed INOMAT-II Eco-Mode 2.0
Conventional Eco-mode has been modified for the Eco-Drive package model to optimize transmission timing.
・ Automatic Drivetrain Cut-off System
Power transmission is cut off and an inertial drive mode is actively applied when the vehicle is travelling in the D range of the 12-speed INOMAT-II with the D-ER switch on, but without the driver operating the accelerator, brake and/or auxiliary brake.
・ Optimized Auto-cruise Control
Normally, when speed decreases on uphill climbs while in automatic cruise control mode, the vehicle increases the speed immediately. But while Eco-mode is on, the drive torque required to recover speed is controlled so that the vehicle accelerates gradually.
(3) Light-duty truck Canter, a Power Supply Vehicle (concept model)
FUSO is passionate about how it can better support our lives. This is a light-duty truck based on the Canter Eco Hybrid truck. It can supply power in emergency situations by using its hybrid motor as a generator.
