Mitsubishi Fuso Introduces New Generation Light Duty Trucks
In Second Largest Export Market - Taiwan

Kawasaki/Taipei – Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC) today launched its new generation Canter light-duty truck for the Taiwan market. Featuring a stylish, modern cab, the new vehicle is designed for safe, reliable and efficient operation. The new Canter was unveiled at a press conference at Taipei Arena.

Bert van Dijk, MFTBC Board member and responsible for International Sales & Service, said, “Mitsubishi Fuso is very pleased to introduce the new Canter in Taiwan, one of the company’s most important export markets. This new vehicle excels in interior room, fuel economy, safety features and functionality. It extends the Canter’s reputation as a highly efficient, reliable and comfortable vehicle that helps our customers toward greater success in their businesses. The extension of the product range is fulfilling Taiwanese customer requirements.”

Product Features

Key features on the new Canter include:

•  Independent front suspension system on select models for optimal ride and comfort.

•  Excellent fuel economy.
•  Model range from 3.5ton to 8.0tons GVW (gross vehicle weight).

The new Canter offers superior fuel economy over its predecessor and competitors. Based on specific requirements of the Taiwan market, a Long Wheel Base variant has been added to the new product range.

The new Canter is now available at Mitsubishi Fuso dealerships in Taiwan. The product is assembled locally by China Motor Corporation (CMC).

Leader in Taiwan

According to Mr. van Dijk, the new Canter will help Mitsubishi Fuso consolidate and strengthen its leadership position in Taiwan, which is the company’s second largest export market after Indonesia. Mitsubishi Fuso sold a total of 12,100 vehicles (retail) in Taiwan in 2006 and had a retail market share of about 50%. The company offers a comprehensive range of light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses for the Taiwan market.

Overall in 2006, MFTBC sold 115,500 vehicles in the international markets outside Japan.
