PRESS RELEASE

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation
Delivers Mercedes-Benz “Citaro G” Buses to
Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Co., Ltd. of Japan

January 15, 2008

Kawasaki - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), an integral part of Daimler Trucks, has delivered four Mercedes-Benz “Citaro-G” buses to Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Co., Ltd., based in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Co. will utilize the non-step, articulated buses for its “Twin Liner” route linking Atsugi AXT, a commercial facility in Atsugi City, with the Atsugi Bus Center, near the Hon-Atusgi train station. The buses, adapted by MFTBC for anticipated operating conditions, will enter service in February.

The Mercedes-Benz Citaro G is an articulated regular-service city bus. With a total length of approximately 18 meters, it has both a front and a rear compartment which are connected by a proven, low-floor swivel joint. This set-up enables a high passenger capacity: in the Japan version, the bus accommodates up to 131 passengers including the driver, about twice the capacity of a conventional route bus. By carrying significantly more passengers, it can help decrease traffic congestion and reduce overall environmental impacts. The bus is also highly maneuverable, enhancing ease of operation and safety in congested urban settings.

While this is the first delivery of Mercedes-Benz Citaro G buses in Japan, the series has been in production for about ten years. About 5,000 Citaro G units have been sold and today are operating widely in Europe and elsewhere. A member of the Citaro series, the low-entry Mercedes-Benz Citaro LE Ü rural regular-service bus was named “Bus of the Year 2007,” a prestigious distinction in Europe.

The implementation of the four Mercedes-Benz Citaro G buses in Japan is in line with an initiative by the Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to promote a more efficient bus transportation system.
