FUSO Canter Payload Wins Trucks for New Customer in Slovakia

July 5 2013
•  Tauris, based in Slovakia, opts first ever FUSO Canter to join truck fleet
•  Favorable decision of Canter based on high 3.3-ton payload capacity
•  Customer fleet enlarged by 14 Canter trucks with freezer box bodies
•  FUSO Canter trucks celebrating its 50th anniversary
Kawasaki, Japan - The FUSO Canter is on its way to serving Tauris’s truck fleet for the first time. Seeking to enlarge its fleet, Tauris, Slovakia’s largest meat and sausage producer, has decided to purchase 14 units of the renowned FUSO Canter with a 7.5-ton permissible gross vehicle weight. The key factors behind the sale were the Canter’s high 3.3-ton payload, maneuverability, and its favorable total cost of ownership. The Canter 7C18s, 129 kW (175 hp), are equipped with freezer box bodies and are used to deliver meat and sausages to outlets throughout Slovakia. The sale of 14 Canter trucks to a new fleet customer support Canter’s increasing popularity in Europe and represents a major success for the FUSO brand.
The Canter 7C with a 7.5-ton permissible gross vehicle weight has a rear axle with a carrying capacity of 6.0 tons, which puts it in first place in this weight class, making the vehicle ideally suitable for high payload requirements. In combination with its low unladen weight, the Canter is already a record-holder in terms of load-carrying capacity and payload.
The technical highlights of the Canter include the Canter Eco Hybrid, now also series-produced in Tramagal, Portugal, and the DUONIC® dual-clutch transmission, which allows the vehicle to be driven without the need to shift gear. Its classic strengths are already legendary: along with the high payload, these include maneuverability and economic efficiency.
50 years of the Canter light-duty truck
The first generation of the FUSO Canter light-duty truck came onto the market in March 1963. 50 years and eight generations later, we are proud to celebrate the truck as a bestseller, with global sales of 3,700,000 units since that original market launch in its home market of Japan. The light-duty FUSO Canter truck is the flagship model of the Daimler, and much in demand from customers around the world. For the European market, the Canter has been produced since 1980 in Tramagal, Portugal, and continues to enjoy increasing popularity throughout Europe.
