Kawasaki: Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, cooperating with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA), will introduce its all-new robust range of the light-medium- and medium-heavy-duty trucks in Vietnam by the end of 2015.
FUSO unveiled the medium-heavy-duty FJ and FZ models at the Vietnam Motor Show 2015 — the largest automotive expo in the country – held at the end of October in Ho Chi Minh City. Together with the vehicles, the brand also exhibited its flagship model light-duty Canter and the light bus Rosa.
The models introduced in the Vietnamese market, known for its durability and fuel efficiency among markets all over the world, are manufactured at DICV’s Oragadam Plant and have been sold globally since 2013. In 2014 they were also offered in Indonesia, the biggest FUSO’s market. Since then, they have been distributed to markets such as Africa and other Asian countries.
FUSO sees Vietnam as a strategic market with considerable growth opportunities, therefore it has been strengthening its business; In 2014 FUSO started local assembly and the sale of light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks through Mercedes-Benz Vietnam Ltd. (MBV), expanding its line-up from light-duty trucks only to medium- and heavy-duty trucks. With only one year the sales volume has risen about 24 percent year on year in the period from January to October. With the new models, FUSO will provide a wide range of options that suit the needs of local customers, aiming at increasing its market share in Vietnam.
Much like other markets in Asia, the Vietnamese market puts a high level of trust in Japan-made vehicles. In 2015, MBV put on a road show in various provinces of Vietnam in an effort to increase the awareness of the FUSO brand. Additionally, it will expand its network of service centers from 11 locations at the beginning of 2015 to 19 by the end of 2015, strengthening its customer services.
