・  A regional center for Daimler Commercial Vehicles for the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region recently opened in Dubai with the aim of focusing on sales and customer services, covering 19 markets through its proximity to local markets.
Kawasaki, Japan - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, cooperating with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA), has launched new models into three markets in the Middle East, with others to follow.
In a big launch event held in Dubai on the 18th of November, FUSO launched its new trucks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the second-largest export market for FUSO with a market share of around 60% in 2014. These were the light-medium-duty trucks FA, FI, and the medium-heavy-duty trucks FJ, FZ. Ahead of the UAE, new models were also unveiled in Oman and Jordan in this month and will be followed by launches in Qatar and Saudi Arabia by the end of the year.
Roland Schneider, CEO of Daimler Commercial Vehicles Middle East & North Africa, said at the event: “FUSO already has a stronghold in the Middle East with a wide product portfolio from the light-duty Canter, medium-duty Fighter to the heavy-duty Super Great in trucks, as well as the light-duty bus Rosa and the Canter Van. By introducing the new models, FUSO will strengthen its line-up in the heavy-duty and medium-duty segment, offering more choice for customers and products that specifically fit the market demand of robust and efficient trucks.”
In order to get closer to the local customers, enhance market sensitivity and shorten lead times, a regional center for the MENA region was recently opened in Dubai. The Regional Center MENA, headed by Roland Schneider, is the first of six centers to be opened for Daimler’s commercial vehicles business around the world. Similar bases will also be established in Central Africa, Southern Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America within the next few months. The center will be responsible for managing sales activities in the following 19 markets; Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
Michael Kamper, Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing, Sales and Customer Services of Daimler Trucks Asia, who is also responsible for the worldwide sales of FUSO, states, "MENA is a promising growth region for our vehicles and very important market to us. So the opening of the new center and subsequent launches in several markets in the region is a clear sign of our commitment to the region. Our regional center will allow us to respond even faster and better to the needs of our customers."
