Everyday Stories: The Making of the FUSO’s 2026 Brand Calendar

Illustrator Sake Harasu shares his inspiration for FUSO's 2026 brand calendar

“I believe a calendar tells stories that unfold over time — beyond simply marking the dates.”

For illustrator Sake Harasu, this belief became the guiding principle behind the FUSO’s 2026 Brand Calendar. Rather than focusing on trucks alone, the calendar invites viewers into the everyday life of FUSO — from meeting rooms and design studios to production floors and customer interactions. Through Harasu’s warm, expressive style, these ordinary moments are transformed into vivid scenes that celebrate the people behind the brand.

Meet the Artist: Sake Harasu

Harasu’s creative journey began in the food industry, where he worked as a designer before moving into illustration for a game company. In 2019, he took the leap to become a freelancer, and today his work spans advertising, book illustration, and background art. He also mentors young artists, sharing the lessons he’s learned along the way.

“In my early design work, I often drew dishes, logos, and staff portraits. That’s when I realized the joy of storytelling through illustration.”

When FUSO approached him for the calendar project, Harasu felt a mix of excitement and pressure.

“It was a theme I hadn’t explored much before, so I was thrilled by the new challenge, though I did feel a little nervous.”

Capturing the Beauty in Everyday Moments

The heart of the project lay in finding the right balance between corporate identity and human warmth. Each month’s illustration depicts a slice of life at FUSO: team meetings, design sessions, conversations with customers. These scenes, though simple, reflect the real spirit of the workplace.

“Since many of the scenes took place indoors, expressing the change of seasons was difficult. But that was part of the fun. I focused on how to make people feel the flow of time within ordinary moments.”

Harasu began with rough sketches based on reference photos and composition plans provided by FUSO. While the final artwork was completed digitally, he incorporated photo-based textures to add depth and realism to his signature warm style.

A Calendar That Connects People

A calendar is something we glance at every day, and Harasu believes it can be more than a tool for scheduling.

“I’d be happy if this project inspires more people to take interest in Fuso’s everyday life and the work that goes on behind the scenes.”

The 2026 Brand Calendar serves as a gentle reminder that behind every truck and every milestone are countless individual efforts. It’s a tribute to the people who make FUSO what it is.

Looking Ahead: A New Challenge

For Harasu, the project was also a personal journey of growth.

“I discovered areas where I could still improve as an artist. By striving to exceed expectations, even just a little, I hope to become someone who’s needed in any creative setting.”

And his message to those who come across the calendar is simple yet powerful:

“Just as this project became a source of new discovery for me, I hope it will inspire someone else to take on a new challenge of their own.”
