Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO Hartmut Schick), under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia, in line with its Vision to drive the commercial vehicles industry into the future, announces the completion of its Campus Plus project investment, first launched in 2017.

The Campus Plus project consolidated MFTBC’s operations in Kawasaki into the main Kawasaki Plant (K1). As part of this project, a new Product Center was constructed, housing the corporate headquarters, R&D and various product-related departments. The building features 10,792 square meters of office space on five floors.

The Product Center is designed to symbolize the centrality of the customer in product design. The fifth floor houses departments like product planning, lifecycle management and the corporate headquarters as the “top of the cup” into which customer research and feedback enter the product development process. The fourth and third floors house R&D, where customer needs are prioritized when developing advanced technologies like connectivity, autonomous driving, safety and electrification. Finally, the second and first floors are dedicated to the state-of-the-art Design Center, where all new FUSO vehicles and some Bharat Benz vehicles will be designed.

Mr. Daum said “The Kawasaki Plant stands at the center of Daimler Trucks Asia’s constellation of global production facilities. Within Daimler Trucks, the Kawasaki Plant stands as an important pillar in our globally integrated technology and product development network. And now, with the completion of the Campus Plus investment, the Kawasaki Plant has become one of the best places to work in the commercial vehicles industry.”

Mr. Wagener commented that “To create innovative products, you need innovative spaces. The new Design Center, at the heart of the Product Center, allows DTA to bring the same creative process and holistic design approach to trucks and buses as we do to our passenger cars.”
