Mitsubishi Fuso to support vehicle warranty extensions worldwide amid COVID-19 pandemic

• Additional two-month coverage for FUSO products with expiring warranties.
• Extension program to be offered to all regions in support of FUSO customers and their services to society in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kawasaki, Japan — Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA), announces that in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, it will offer two-month warranty extensions to eligible customers around the world.

FUSO customers within Japan with warranties expiring between April 1st and May 31st, 2020 will automatically qualify for a two-month extension. MFTBC is also sponsoring a similar initiative for markets outside of Japan. Two months of additional coverage will be supported by MFTBC for warranties expiring between the period of March 15th to May 15th, 2020. This program will be made available to FUSO distributors in approximately 170 markets worldwide.

In this current situation, transport and logistics are critical in ensuring supply, disposal and emergency services continue, making trucks and buses particularly important. With these warranty extensions, MFTBC aims to affirm its commitment to customers whose day-to-day operations have been affected by the spread of the novel coronavirus. As many governments and businesses around the world implement precautionary social distancing measures, this program will support customers who are unable to visit their local service center for vehicle maintenance, and enable them to focus their resources on supporting their societies amidst very demanding conditions.

Hartmut Schick, President and CEO of MFTBC and Head of DTA, comments, “Our customers in the transportation industry are working tirelessly to distribute essential goods such as food and medical supplies. They rely on our products to keep the world moving when everything else has come to a standstill. Especially in these challenging times, we want to give them our fullest support and make a positive contribution to society.”

Wherever organizationally possible – and subject to respective legal and official requirements – MFTBC pursues the clear goal of maintaining its service network across the world. At the same time, all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of customers and employees at all service locations that remain open.
