eCanter showcased at Indonesian Ministry of Transport event
at the Bali G20 Summit

•The all-electric FUSO eCanter truck takes part in an exhibit to highlight Indonesia’s commitment to emissions reductions.
•Additional customer trials taking place in Jakarta to prepare for the eCanter’s future market introduction.

Kawasaki, Japan/Jakarta, Indonesia — Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Karl Deppen), is pleased to announce that the official FUSO distributor of Indonesia, PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (hereafter “KTB”) is showcasing the all-electric light-duty eCanter truck at the Battery Based Electric Motor Vehicle Exhibition hosted by the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia. The exhibit, which has been organized alongside the G20 Bali Summit, is running from November 12th to 16th.

The Indonesian government is now focused on green initiatives as one of the major focus areas of its national development strategy, and has positioned Sustainable Energy Transition as one of its three pillars for its 2022 G20 presidency. The exhibit installed in conjunction with the G20 Bali Summit aims to showcase the the country’s commitment to future mobility solutions that will aid this sustainability shift.

Following this national-level interest in emissions reductions, local industries have also been exploring means of integrating electric vehicles into their fleets. Throughout September and October 2022, KTB collaborated with major logistic transport company PT. Trimitra Trans Persada (“B-Log”) to test the eCanter truck during day-to-day operations.

B-Log, which oversees a 3000 strong fleet running in 40 cities across the archipelago, trialed the eCanter in their daily deliveries in the capital city of Jakarta. Routes in areas such as Tangerang, which is home to an international airport and one of the more concentrated urban centers in the larger Jarkarta metropolitan area, allowed the logistics company to experience the vehicle’s practicality.

This collaboration in Jakarta follows the customer trials which took place during July in Denpasar, Bali, and are part of the preparations taking place to introduce the electric vehicle into the Indonesian market in the coming years. While trials allow for KTB and MFTBC to gain insight into customer needs, usage patterns, and potential challenges during this time, the truck operators and drivers are also able to familiarize themselves with the new technology. The eCanter is the only electric truck in Indonesia that is being run in such trials under real business conditions. By setting these benchmarks with customers and cross-industry partners in Indonesia, Mitsubishi Fuso and KTB aim to further drive the sustainability shift in this major market.

About the eCanter
The eCanter is the series-produced all-electric truck developed by MFTBC as a solution to urban environmental issues such as noise, exhaust gas and CO2 emissions. As the eCanter is locally emission-free with its electric motor and produces less noise and vibration compared to conventional diesel-powered vehicles, it is particularly suited to inner-city routes as well as operations during late night and early morning hours. Since its launch in 2017, eCanter trucks have covered a total driving distance of over 6 million kilometers worldwide, and around 450 vehicles have been introduced in Japan, Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
