MFTBC Moves Headquarters to Site of Kawasaki Plant

January 7, 2019

  • HQ to move to newly constructed “Product Center”
  • Promoting business efficiency by consolidating key functions within the Kawasaki Plant

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (headquartered in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; headed by President and Chief Executive Officer Hartmut Schick) (MFTBC) is pleased to announce the move of its corporate headquarters to the newly constructed Product Center on the site of the Kawasaki Plant (Kawasaki City, Nakahara Ward, Ohkuracho).

Since December 2015, key corporate functions including CEO Office, Sales, Marketing, Customer Services and others were located at the Shin-Kawasaki Mitsui Building, located close to MFTBC’s primary production facility, the Kawasaki Plant. These functions will now be consolidated at the site of the Kawasaki Plant in order to improve operational and business efficiency.

By the end of 2018, functions including the CEO Office, Product Planning, External Affairs, Design, Corporate Communications, and Product marketing will move to the new 5-story Product Center building at the Kawasaki Plant. Further, the Research & Development Headquarters, until now housed at the Kawasaki Plant Number 2 (“K2”), will also move to the new Product Center. The latter follows the January 31, 2017 agreement to sell the Kawasaki Plant Number 2, which will be fully vacated by the end of 2018.

The construction of the Product Center as well as various new facilities at the Kawasaki Plant is part of MFTBC’s large-scale Campus+ Project. This project was launched in line with the Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA) strategy of DTA One. Of the strategy’s three strategic pillars, “Product, Process and People”, the Campus+ project falls within the “Process” pillar. On the production side, MFTBC is investing in automation and digitization to improve efficiency and quality. Further, working environment improvements are ongoing in order to improve employee satisfaction and labor efficiency.
